Kevin Smith, Attorney at LawKevin M. Smith was born on June 23, 1966, in Andrews, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1988, he moved to Wichita, Kansas and sold pharmaceutical products until 1996, the year he moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, with his wife, Mona, to attend Regent University School of Law. While at Regent, Kevin served on the Law Review as a Staff Member and Issue Planning Editor, and won Best Oralist in the 1998 Justice Antonin Scalia Moot Court Competition. His most notable experience was the two years he served as a law clerk for the American Center for Law and Justice, a not-for-profit religious liberties civil rights organization on the campus of Regent University School of Law. He graduated Cum Laude in 1999.

Kevin clerked with Hutton & Hutton, L.L.C., in the Summer of 1998 where he did research and wrote memoranda and various legal documents on medical malpractice, class action and personal injury issues.

Kevin began his legal career as a practicing Attorney with Martin & Churchill, Chtd., of Wichita, Kansas. He was an associate with the Labor & Employment division where he defended business litigants from various Employment Discrimination claims. He also worked on a variety of general business matters ranging from Immigration to Incorporation issues, as well as estate planning and probate assignments.

Kevin's most recent and rewarding career experience was as an Assistant District Attorney for Sedgwick County, Kansas. Kevin charged and prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor cases including drug possession, burglary, theft, DUI and traffic matters. His tenure as an Assistant D.A. included substantial preliminary hearing, bench and jury trial, and probation violation hearing experience. He also had substantial interaction with District and County Attorneys, in Sedgwick and surrounding counties, and Defense Counsel. Kevin opened his law office on June 24, 2002, believing that his ultimate calling is to help those most in need of legal counsel.
